5 Stars Excellent Player
My friend bought this player for me from New York (I am in HK) and it is excellent. The loading is fast, image is sharp and price is reasonable.
5 Stars Incomparable Value for the $
Absolutely stunning picture quality delivered to my Panasonic plasma TV. Even more incredible sound via the lossless multi channel analog output. (I really like NOT having to upgrade my beloved Yamaha RXV 2500 AV reciever) Fast loading. Easy setup, glitch free performance in a good looking well priced product. Met and exceeded all expectations…Highly recommended.
5 Stars Superb BD Player
This is truly an excellent piece of Home Theater Equipment. Excellent video and audio performance. No need to upgrade your receiver now. Lossless audio sounds great via 7.1 analog. Amazon sales and service have been great too. You simply can’t go wrong with this unit.
5 Stars It’s a winner!
After reading all other reviews, I decided to go for this Panny BD55. My expectations were set very high and the player delivered them..all of them!!
The player looks quite impressive even when not powered on. Powering it, brings a cool blue cresent in the front.
Setting it up is very simple. Well thought questions on initial setup parameters takes not more than a minute and it’s done! Hoooking it up with the receiver too is simple. I have an older non-HDMI receiver and this was the key reason for going in for 55 instead of 35.
Time taken from power up till you can insert the disc is longer than what the normal DVD player takes. However, it’s not long enough to be painful.
The performance:
I played three different kinds of media to test. BBC’s Planet Earth & Cars(BD), The Patriot (DVD) and then a classical flute (MP3)
Picture -BD
In both the cases, the pictures and colors are crisp and deep. Even in fast movements and action, the player keeps up with the details all over the screen. The forest and the flowers in Planet Earth literally bring the television alive!! You would feel as if the trees are right there in front of you. Smallest of the details in the forest come alive, especially when the camera pans around in slow motion, you feel you are gliding through the forest!
Cars puts the player into a different kind of world. The animations, reflections, shadows, the speed… all work beautifully!
Picture -DVD
The output is as good as any other high end DVD player. I didn’t see much difference in the depth of colors and clarity from the ones I get from my regular DVD player (Pioneer DV525). This DVD player was anyway one of the best ones around and still puts out better performance on it’s Component video than HDMI of many of the newer players!!
Audio – MP3
The audio processing is nice. The notes from the flute were rendered perfectly. I deliberately selected a solo flute performance. The listeners were immersed in the beautiful sounds of the flute… I forgot that I was merely checking the player. I listened to the whole 15 minute performance.
Remote:
The Remote keys are nicely spaced. You would not need the manual for most of the operations. The smart feature is programming the TV and Receiver codes to control power and volume. However, the Receiver list is limited.
What Panasonic should do:
1. Remote: make it look more like 21st century. It’s very functional (good) but still looks like one from 90s.
2. Please please please provide an HDMI cable or at least stop providing the flimsy composite AV cable!!!! That’s cheap and mean too!!
5 Stars Much Better
I have bought both the BD55K and the Sony S350 and I would say the 55K. wins with overall picture, ease of setup and best of all speed of loading dvd’s. The both come packed with all the features with the 55K having one or two more and of last check was cheaper. If your contemplating on either one of these, make it the BD55K, you won’t go wrong.
Sharp Aquos LC65D64U 65 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Sharp Aquos LC65D64U 65 Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

Once again, Sharp, a leader in LCD technology, establishes a new design standard for LCD TVs. With a screen size class of 65″, the AQUOS LC-65D64U raises the bar by fitting a large screen size into an incredibly small footprint. By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by reducing the number of parts, Sharp engineers developed the Slim-line design which reduces depth by 25%, allowing placement of the LC-65D64U in virtually any setting. The LC-65D64U utilizes Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 4ms response time. The LC-65D64U features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 3 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, X.V. Color, a PC input and 2 HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for wall-mounting convenience as well as RS-232C input for control..

4 Stars Awsome TV – No Frills like View Pictures/Slideshows
This is an awsome no frills TV. Great picture, beautiful high gloss frame with non detachable speaker on bottom. 1080p with lots of inputs including 3 HDMI and a huge 65″ flat screen LCD for less than $3100 (that is the deal I got from Amazon around Thanksgiving 2008)! I only gave this 4 stars because unlike Samsung or Sony there is no functionality to plug in USB or camera cards to show pictures/slide show and no networking/internet capabilty (of course you can always connect your laptop and use it as the display or if you have a DVD/VCR with these features). Now for an extra $2200 the Sharp Aquos model above it (LC65SE94U) I believe has all of this. Again for the money this is a great TV.
5 Stars Warning: You Will Be in Love with Your Television.
Sharp’s Aquos series is one of the most highly regarded in HDTV flat panel LCD TV alongside Sony’s Bravia series. It deserves all of the accolades it receives as the picture, even on a 65″ behemoth, is absolutely flawless. In 1080p HD this thing is incredible. Black levels are amazing, response times and refresh rates are so fast that even professional sports displayed in HD show no pixels falling behind, no blurring, no noise. The set also requires virtually no warm up time and is at full brightness in a matter of moments after powering on. The set also includes technology that senses how bright the room is and adjusts the brightness of the screen to the room conditions. The understated and elegant design of the ultra thin bezel disappears and the picture just seems to float in midair. I have this hooked up to a home theater, so I cannot comment on the on board speakers, but I suppose anyone getting a 65″ set will be using external speakers as well. The only shortcoming is a slight lack of features that other sets are offering, like front panel inputs (although easy to get to side inputs are available, including a side HDMI port). Memory card slots for displaying digital camera slideshows on screen aren’t included either. I know I won’t miss either of these seldom used features, but thought they deserved a mention. For such a huge screen, this set is surprisingly light too, so it’s no problem wall mounting it using universal mounts. It’s quite easy for two adults to move around. A handsome understated stand is included if you have furniture big enough to set it down upon. An absolute stunner that you won’t regret purchasing. Just be prepared to fall in love and spend more time with your TV than you ever did before. In a word: Perfect. Highly recommended.
5 Stars Big & Awesome
I’ve been window shopping for a big TV for over a year and compared DLPs, Plasmas and LCDs. I then selected this one for the size, quality & price. If you can buy a 65″, go for it as its any day better purchase than any 52″. Thanks to 120 Hz technology, the price on this TV dropped and I was able to afford it. There is very little performance difference between 120hz and this one but the price difference is about $2000 that I was not willing to pay. It has awesome pic quality and many modes that you can set according to your viewing needs. I bought SONY Blu ray and the pic quality on HD movies are superbly sharp and cool.
5 Stars Grab the Popcorn!
The is the most amazing TV ever! The picture is amazing! The sound is just as great as the picture without adding on surround sound. The in home delivery was great! They even can on Saturday and showed up earlier then expected!. The entire process from order to deliver took only 6 days. I just completed setting up the TV with HDMI and could not stop watching it. All I could say was WOW!. The picture is flawless and the response time when changing channels is exceptional. Well worth the price and you cannot beat the in home service offered by Amazon.com!!!!!!!
